New Jersey Chinese-American Chamber of Commerce (NJCACC) wishes its members and friends happy holidays and a prosperous 2010! And, we look forward to seeing you again at our many events next year.

In 2009, NJCACC hosted 7 events with the emphasis on networking, as follows:

1.Business Card Exchange
Evening of February 19, 2009 at Appliedinfo Partners, Somerset, NJ, Sponsored by High Point Auto Insurance.

40 people networked at this event and exchanged business cards and heard a presentation from High Point Auto Insurance and its 5% discount for NJCACC members.

2. Networking Meeting
Evening of April 9, 2009 at Appliedinfo Partners, Somerset, NJ. Sponsored by Cathay Bank.

40 people attended this event and networked.
Specialists from John Hancock Retirement Plan Services presented “Great Retirement Expectations.”

3. Seminar On Financial & Technical Assistance For Small Business
Evening of April 21, 2009 at Appliedinfo Partners, Somerset, NJ. Co-hosted with US Small Business Administration (SBA).

40 people networked and listened to presentations from SBA and its partners on how SBA could help small businesses obtain loans and technical assistance.    

4. Networking Lunch
Lunch on May 20, 2009 at King’s Chef, Iselin, NJ. Sponsored by PNC Bank.

80 people networked, heard presentations from New Jersey State Assemblyman Upendra Chivakula of  District 17, Mayor Hsingfu Hseuh of West Windsor Township, NJ and Mayor Cecelia Birge of Montgomery Township NJ talk about how they would spend the US stimulus package in their areas, and enjoyed a delicious dim sum lunch. After lunch, the eminent political commentator, James McQueeney commented on the forthcoming gubernatorial race in New Jersey. Photographs of this event are available in the Photo Gallery.

5. Doing Business With China Seminar
Evening of July 20, 2009 at Crowne Plaza Edison, NJ. Sponsored by Cathay Bank.

80 people networked and listened to presentations on investment opportunities in Shanghai, State of New Jersey assistance on exports and foreign direct investments, tax issues of US-China trade and investment and trade financing and letter of credit. The presenters were Bob Dong, CEO of Shanghai International Holding Corp. (America), Jean Cheng, International Trade Specialist, New Jersey Economic Development Authority, Peter Chen, Partner, China Services Group, Deloitte Tax LLC and Adam Liaw, Vice President, Cathay Bank.

6. NJCACC’s 6th Anniversary & Awards Banquet
Evening of September 24, 2009 at Crowne Plaza Edison, NJ.

Over 200 guests attended this event to network and honor the 9 awardees for their outstanding achievements: community service – Helen Yu; corporate achievement – Chris Law, United Healthcare & Xiaojing li, Bank of China; professional achievement – Peter Guang Chen; woman business achievement – Meiling Kraverik; legal achievement – Eugene Huang & Moly Hung; entrepreneurship – Abel Sheng, Raamco International, Inc.; service to NJCACC- Ernest Williams.

7. NJCACC Members Only Networking Party
Evening of December 13, 2009 at Board Member Margaret Lam’s house.

30 members networked at Margaret Lam’s house and heard a presentation on the importance of Chinese participation in the 2010 Census by Jose Aguiling of US Census Bureau as the Census numbers could affect US government policy towards Americans of Chinese descent and also funding of programs beneficial to Chinese Americans. In addition to Margaret’s famous soup, the guests were treated to musical performances by NJCACC Chairman John Lau. Wei Liu, “Hawaiian Brian” and David Yen.
